SGM Seeds
A GLOBAL PILLAR OF COMPETITIVENESS

Brazilian livestock farming has consolidated itself in recent decades as one of the most competitive in the world, standing out both in production and in the export of animal protein. This success results from a strategic combination of abundant natural resources, technological innovation, and efficient management, positioning Brazil as a global reference in sustainable livestock production.

With approximately 240 million head of cattle, the country has one of the largest bovine herds on the planet, highlighting the economic and strategic importance of the sector. Extensive pasture areas and a favorable climate allow cattle to be raised predominantly on pasture throughout the year, reducing costs compared to intensive systems that depend on grains and industrial inputs. In addition, pasture-based production contributes to meat quality and environmental sustainability, aligning productivity with ecological responsibility.

Technological advancement is a central pillar of Brazilian competitiveness. Institutions such as Embrapa have developed genetic improvements, pasture management techniques, hybrid cultivars, and integrated systems such as crop-livestock-forest integration (ILPF). These innovations increase productivity per hectare, optimize herd management, and reduce environmental impacts, generating consistent gains in efficiency and profitability for livestock producers.

Modern farm management is also strategic. Brazilian producers use data-driven management, traceability, and strict sanitary controls, ensuring the high standards required by international markets. This approach opens access to high-value clients and strengthens Brazil’s image as a reliable supplier of animal protein.

In this context, structured companies play an essential role. SGM Seeds and Grupo Raça Agro stands out with 38 retail units located in 5 states that together account for approximately 47% of the total national herd, ensuring proximity to livestock producers and agile access to inputs, technologies, and technical support. Its portfolio of more than 3,000 items includes crop protection products, animal health products, pasture seeds, animal nutrition, machinery, and equipment, offering everything producers need. An important differentiator is the in-house production of animal nutrition and pasture seeds through Zootec and SGM Seeds, ensuring quality, standardization, innovation, and competitive pricing. This vertical integration strengthens the production chain and provides tailored solutions for different types of farms.

The impact of SGM Seeds and Grupo Raça Agro is also international, exporting products and expertise to more than 20 countries.
With over 40 years of experience in Brazilian tropical livestock farming, the company shares knowledge that improves productivity and efficiency in livestock systems worldwide, reinforcing Brazil’s position as a leader in beef production. Furthermore SGM Seeds received the award as Top Pasture Seeds Manufacturer in Latin America 2026 as recognition in Agri Business Review Latin America Magazine

Sustainability is a priority for the Group. Brazilian livestock farming adopts low-carbon practices, restores degraded pastures, optimizes natural resources, and reduces greenhouse gas emissions, aligning production expansion with strict environmental standards and strengthening the sector’s reputation among global consumers and investors.

Maintaining this leadership requires continuous attention to challenges such as land regularization, combating illegal deforestation, improving logistics infrastructure, and expanding trade agreements.SGM Seeds and Grupo Raça Agro exemplifies how strategic operations, operational excellence, and knowledge dissemination can overcome these challenges and support the sector’s sustainable development.

In summary, Brazilian livestock farming combines natural advantages, technological innovation, efficient management, and global integration, positioning itself among the most competitive in the world. In this scenario, SGM Seeds and Grupo Raça Agro stand as examples of leadership in operational excellence, verticalized production, and international knowledge transfer, consolidating Brazil’s role in global food security and sustainable livestock production.
